Stellenbosch Wine Routes recently announced a campaign to plant 1 000 trees by the end of 2024, by asking each of the 130 wine farms that are members of Stellenbosch Wine Routes to plant trees – particularly oak trees – on their premises. The campaign was prompted by the damage done to trees throughout Stellenbosch by harsh winds in April 2024. This was confirmed by Mia Koch, human resources manager for Taaibosch, a wine farm in Stellenbosch. Taaibosch has already pledged to plant 15 trees, despite the project still being in its early phases, said Koch.
