Stellenbosch University (SU) Botanical Garden hosted their annual rare plants fair on the weekend of 28 September, despite weather conditions threatening to interfere with the event. This is according to Razelle Galant, administrative officer at SU Botanical Garden.
Ten vendors had a versatile range of rare plants on display, with prices ranging from R20 to R1 000. Some plants were imported from New Zealand, Indonesia, Thailand, the Netherlands and America, according to Chanique Reyneke, the owner of the online plant store Sunnyy Spott.
“It brings some excitement back to the plant community,” said Reyneke. Galant said she was surprised by the turnout despite non-ideal weather conditions.
