Graduating students at the Elizabeth Galloway Academy of Fashion Design showcased their final-year collections at a fashion show on 14 September.
The collections, some of which incorporated culturally significant themes and contemporary styles, were conceptualised and designed over the course of this year.
“I just wanted to have fun with it. I just wanted to explore different fabrics, different textures [and] techniques,” said Shaquille Smit, final-year design student at Elizabeth Galloway.
Sustainable practices also formed an important part of the process, according to Angelica Davis, final-year design student at Elizabeth Galloway.
“I believe as designers, we have a responsibility to make a difference. Not be perfect, but do better,” she said.
