There is an on-going investigation following a recent shooting that happened in Cloetesville. This was according to warrant officer Zenobia Sedeman from the Cloetesville South African Police Service (SAPS), via written correspondence with SMF News.
A case of murder and attempted murder has been opened after the shooting that happened on 27 August at 19:50 on Vredelust Road in Cloetesville, stated Sedeman.

Multiple victims
When SAPS arrived at the location, they discovered that one male had been shot in the chest and died on the scene, said Sedeman. Three other individuals had also sustained injuries as a result of the shooting, she stated.
A woman was shot in her left leg while another received a bullet wound to her bum, said Sedeman. A man was shot in his left arm, she stated.
“[The injured individuals] were taken to Stellenbosch [Provincial] Hospital for medical assistance,” said Sedeman.
Two individuals were treated for gunshot wounds on the evening of 27 August and then released from the hospital, said Sandra Maritz, communications officer for the Cape Winelands District for the Western Cape Government Health and Wellness

A common occurrence
“[The] shooting was scary,” said a community member who lives near the location of the incident, who requested to remain anonymous.
Incidents similar to this shooting are common and “happen most of the time”, claimed another community member.

The reason for the incident has not been confirmed, stated Sedeman. However, the investigation is still ongoing, she said.
