South African comedian Nik Rabinowitz brought his trademark edgy comedy show Fourtyfied to Woordfees on Saturday night.
Rabinowitz made fun of many current topics: From President Jacob Zuma to cell phone contract salespeople, from parenthood to religion, very little was left off his list. Rabinowitz spoke about his often hilarious experiences dealing with callers on the Coca Cola MegaMillions Gameshow, his experiences as a father of three and growing up in a Jewish family.
On his experiences with cell phone contract salespeople, Rabinowitz joked: “I think you should talk to these people instead of angrily putting the phone down. I told one of the salespeople about a chest infection that I had had since September. Her reaction was ‘Oh. Ok Sir. Can I tell you about our tablet and smartphone’?”.
The show was opened by Schalk Bezuidenhout who joked about his experiences growing up in Gauteng.
Rabinowitz is a local, having grown up in Cape Town and graduated from UCT. He has made international appearances in the UK, the USA, Australia, Canada and Holland. His highlights include making guest appearances on British comedy panel show Mock the Week, appearing in the South African film Material and releasing a book entitled South Africa: Long Walk to a Free Ride.
Rabinowitz is one of many comedy acts appearing at Woordfees. Others include Barry Hilton, Kagiso Lediga, Rob van Vuuren and Shimmy Isaacs.
