Jimmy Nevis’ performance at the Woordfees Family Day concert was wildly popular. “We literally ran all the way from my res to here just get in time for Jimmy Nevis” said an out of breath Meagan Stephens, (19).
The band began with one of Nevis’ hit songs, Ballin’, causing fans to cheer wildly as he danced his way to centre stage. Nevis presented a fun filled show from beginning to end, performing mashups of his music and famous songs by international artists such as ABBA’s Dancing Queen and Faith Evan’s Love Like This.
Many fans were impressed by Nevis’ vocal range, which he used to improvise in his songs. “He managed to change the songs so much yet it was so beautiful” explained an excited Montenique Cloete, (21), a Theology student.Nevis’ stage presence and audience interaction had fans calling for an encore after his performance.
Some of the songs Nevis performed included, “Heartboxing”, “Elephant Shoes”, “All About It” and ended the show with the hit “7764”. After the show Nevis obligingly took a picture with a fan who had gotten past his security.
