Stellenbosch University’s (SU) political science department hosted a premier debate at the Stellenbosch Museum on 7 May in the run-up to the 2024 election, according to Stephan Gerber, the event’s organiser. The event was organised by students, who aimed to encourage informed youth votership, said Gerber. Students were informed of the views and goals of different political parties through the debates held between premier candidates of parties such as the Democratic Alliance, Freedom Front Plus, Action SA, Rise Mzansi, and independent candidate Zackie Achmat, according to Gerber.
